Jack has some ‘splainin’ to do! That's right! Callie Lassiter's normally well-behaved Great Dane Jack has run off and done the wild thing with the neighbor's dog. It must be puppy love! It's doubly embarrassing since she's a professional dog trainer. Of course, the neighbor would have to be hot, hot nightclub owner bad boy Owen McKay, just the kind of man Callie is determined to avoid. Owen’s comfortable with his playboy status and the hype in the media. But the ground moves beneath his feet when he gets an eyeful of the girl next door. The Dog Whisperer never looked this good! How can he convince this wholesome honey that his player days are behind him? Maybe Jill, his Great Dane can help him with this dilemma now that she’s pregnant and Callie’s dog is to blame. Is this bad boy a bad bet? Beware of dogs, romance and deep belly laughs! Going to the Dogs is a romp through the urban jungle of New York City to find true love, the perfect cocktail, and expensive heels. Dog is a man’s best friend, but sometimes a woman just needs a hot man in the city. This series will appeal to a mature crowd, especially fans of Sex in The City.

This book was great. I am a huge fan of romances, but an even bigger fan of romances with pets as such a key figure. These adorable, loving, and occasionally mischievous creatures only serve to make a book better (as they so often do in life). This is a very sweet romance between Owen and Callie, neighbors who are originally connected via their unruly pooches. Owen is the classic bad boy and Callie is your typical girl-next-door (or at least that's the way Callie sees it). She's sworn off bad boys and he thinks Callie isn't his type. This is a fun, lighthearted story where we watch their Great Danes bring them together first literally with their leashes and then more figuratively with the result of their hour of freedom from their owners. As they get to know one another, their feelings get harder and harder to deny. Overall, excellent story with some vibrant characters. This book has a HEA ending with no cliffhanger. Regardless, I cannot wait to read Brooke's story next in Groomed for Murder!Product details

Leashed Going to the Dogs Volume 1 Zoe Dawson 9780991351534 Books Reviews
Being owned by a dog myself, I thoroughly enjoyed reading LEASHED, a romantic comedy about two humans and two Great Danes who initially want nothing to do with each other (the humans, not the dogs).
Wit throughout (the name of the dog training facility is “Sit Happens” and the name of the dog grooming facility is “Pawlished”), this book made me want to “sit” and “stay” until the very last page had been turned!
I just could not put this book down so read it in one sitting till 2am. Everything about it was just AWESOME!! The cover, the story..I could go on and on... The charactors were so meant to be and their pets knew it from the very start. I have never seem two people so set on not falling for each other.
I was quite sad when I read the last page. I can`t wait for the second book to come out in December. 5 stars and two thumbs way up for Zoe Dawson. Wooot Wooot!! ;)
I love animals, dogs, cats, horses, lions, tigers, & bears. OH my !!!! You get the picture. This story about Great Dane's one of the largest dog breeds in the dog kingdom was great. The story about the humans was very good to. I have never thought about the life of a big city dog, but city people love their pets to and treat them as well as anyone in a rural community would. But I have also found that city people come to the country to dump their animals which is just awful. Please give them to a no kill shelter if they become to much for you. The right someone will come along and be perfect for your unwanted pet.
Rather dull plot, though the dogs were cute. I stopped reading about a third of the way through. I had been wincing "editor!" and " proofreading..." until then. At "Great Danes gestate sixty three days on average. That's three months..." I stopped caring at all. That's not just lack of editing or proofreading, just truly bad math. At least I didn't waste money on it.
I'd have given this cute little romance a four star rating but at the end the reader is informed that the story goes on in the next book. I already have it, so I'll read it, but if I didn't have it, I'd be really angry to have been duped into buying a book whose story isn't complete.
There are some major grammar issues with this writer. She doesn't know how to use pronouns. She used "him" when the meaning was obviously HER and then used "he"r as the subject of a phrase. "....her and Ian went...." Subject and object pronouns are not interchangeable and neither are gender specific pronouns. There's also a timing problem. Five weeks ago Aunt Tilly died and within a month or less of the book's plot line, poor old Aunt Tilly had been dead five months.
If you like dogs and cute meets with a side of sizzle, this may be the perfect series for your summer vacation.
The first in a series that seems to have a good reader following, the he said/she said alternating POVs work well together. Well written and well pace, it's a good easy romance read. The only caveat being must love dogs. Because there's a lot about dogs.
Luckily I love dogs. The heroine is a dog trainer, and two of her best friends (also single women) are a dog groomer and a vet, so you know right away there's lots of potential to keep this theme going. The hero of this story is the bad boy next door, a rich playboy nightclub owner who inherits a Great Dane from his great aunt. Her dog is Jack, his is Jill, and guess who runs off and gets pregnant? Even my young niece went "awww" at the sweet cute-meet setup. (No, I didn't let her read this book! I just gave her a verbal outline of the plot. I'm a good aunt! just not a great aunt - ha! humor!)
The comparison to Sex in the City is slightly exaggerated, at least for this first book. Situation-wise and humor-wise it fits, but don't expect Samantha getting it on in a sex swing or crazy monkey sex... our heroine Callie is pretty much a girl-next-door, despite her apparent history with bad boys that's alluded to but never explored.
A thoroughly enjoyable read, I'd give this a solid 4.5 out of 5 and recommend it for the beach bag!
I read the longer expanded version and loved it!
Callie and Owen stole my heart! Callie and her group of girl friends gave me a Sex in the City vibe with each lady being a stand out with something different. Callie is our girl next door who loves to be active and always falls for the wrong guy. Owen is a sexy nightclub owner who doesn't do relationships. When their dogs get together, Callie and Owen find themselves pursuing a relationship that is everything they didn't know they could have! This story was sexy and fun. Owen was broody and a little damaged, but Callie helped him see that he deserved to be loved. I loved watching Owen let his walls down. I will definitely be jumping in to read the rest of the books in the series! I love these women and I can't wait to see the men that complete them!
